A MAN demanded money at Fairy Meadow's Bendigo Bank yesterday, but left empty-handed after the teller activated security screens.

After the incident at 11.40am at the Princes Hwy bank the man ran off, but police could not find him.

He is described as caucasian, 20-25 years old, of solid athletic build, 175-180cm tall, with short, light brown hair with long, thin sideburns and tattoos on his right forearm. He was wearing light blue jeans, a white adidas shirt with grey sleeves and three black stripes on the sleeve and a white baseball cap with a motif on the front.

Meantime, about 1.10pm yesterday a man entered Tarrawanna Post Office and demanded money. When he was refused he fled in a maroon sports sedan, possibly a Hyundai. Anyone with information about either incident should contact Wollongong Police on 4226 7899 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
